I'm packing for my winter holiday in Haliburton Highlands in Canada. From the way I have been preparing my packing by throwing anything remotely warming into my suitcase you could easily be lead to believe I was going to the Antarctic for six months. As is the case, however, and what I constantly have to remind myself is that, I'm only going for one week on this well-organised Friendship Force holiday, staying in a (hopefully) warm and cosy house, so I have now (reluctantly, 'cause you never know) thrown out most of the garments, being very sensible about what I will take. A few of them are not negotiable - my bed socks, and my inherited, treasured woolly knickers - absolutely essential! I am also toying with the idea of pressing down a hot water bottle, but I feel strong forces around me (my husband) preventing this. We'll see ... watch this space!
