As it turned out, I wore my bedsocks every night, treasured woolly knickers every day, because it was cold - some mornings, when I sneaked up to the kitchen for the essential first cup of tea, the thermometer showed -24-26C.
A fantastic week, when enjoying the snow and ice were prime targets. On our first afternoon we were watching an ice sculpturer practising for a big ice sculpture festival in Ottawa the following week, and later a walk in the grounds of Haliburton Art College where, among other enticing sculptures, we found this sleeping beauty.
